Bank Holiday: Food, Music & Flowers

25.5.16

With the bank holiday weekend just around the corner we’ve been chatting about our plans in the CB office. As far as the weekend activities go, we think delicious food is right up there, be it a feast whipped up at home or a leisurely lunch by the coast.

So in celebration of the long weekend, we thought we would round up a few of our favourite recipes, restaurants and events.

Poppies at Chelsea Flower Show

The prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show is a must see and there are still last minute tickets available. With the last day on Saturday, 28th May and the weather set for sun, this is a great time to visit the world's greatest and most prestigious flower show. A member of the CB team was able to pop along yesterday and take a snap of the spectacular tribute to the armed forces at this year’s show. Hundreds of thousands of handmade poppies have turned the RHS Chelsea Flower Show red in a tribute to those who have served in war.

Grooving at Common People

From flowers to music, the makers of Bestival are at it again as Common People festival is back for its second year at Southampton Common for the upcoming weekend.  Hannah, our marketing manager, will be bopping along to Duran Duran and Craig David to name a few of the headline acts. There will also be a wide variety of scrumptious street food to munch on, perfect for when you get hungry like a wolf!

Dining out at Rick Stein Sandbanks

There is nothing better than being beside the seaside on a sunny weekend. With views across the water, the new Rick Stein restaurant in Sandbanks is perfect for a relaxed lunch. From crab salads to classic fish and chips this spot is ideal for a leisurely lunch with a glass of wine staring out over the water. Make sure you get a table upstairs for the best views.

Just call us Nigella

Recipes are always being swapped in the CB office. With BBQs and family lunches organised for the weekend, we’ve compiled all the recipes that will be tried and tested this weekend.  Anna, our website manager, raved about this Avocado Tostada recipe and mentioned it would be great for an alfresco lunch… With a nice bottle of white wine! We thought this would go nicely with Claudia’s tomato and mozzarella salad.  Her secret is using Isle of Wight tomatoes and Laverstoke mozzarella with basil picked from the garden.

While Charlotte, our wholesale manager and star baker, will be baking her new favourite cake, English Rose Cake. She commented “definitely give this a try, its delicious!”

We are also offering 30% off a selected number of our designs this bank holiday. Shop our Spring Edit
