We enjoyed our coffee and morning paper on Wednesday, greatly improved by seeing Claudia smiling out of a page of The Daily Telegraph! The picture accompanied an interview with the designer discussing family life, work, and the start of Claudia Bradby Jewellery. She also talks about her relationship with Kate Middleton – how, chatting over breakfast at a café, she discovered the Duchess is a true family girl at heart – and how Kate was one of the first to notice her jewellery collection, when she was a junior buyer for Jigsaw.
Claudia is described as making up one half of a “glam power couple” – together with her husband Tom – but she is quick to deny that life is as glamourous as it may seem. “To us, life is about the people”, she says, and this goes back to the essence of Claudia Bradby Jewellery: pieces for women with insouciance in their glamour, who will spend time enjoying life’s simple pleasures and the people around them.
Claudia’s “understated chic of pumps and pearls” is noted – in the picture, the relaxed glamour of a blazer and jeans allows her jewellery designs to take centre stage. She wears the Biography necklace – a classic string of slightly oval shaped pearls – layered with the World is Your Oyster necklace. On her wrist are stacked the Santorini and Lucia bracelets, and on her ears she contrasts the classic elegance of the Manhattan stud earring – a single pearl – in one ear, with the modern playfulness of the Tribal Drop earring in the other. She shows how the modern woman can strike the balance between classic glamour and everyday practicality.
