Pearls in Fashion

Pearls are enjoying a bit of a moment in the fashion world.  No longer confined to jewellery, pearls can be seen adorning style leaders from head to toe. Here’s a round-up of some of our favourite pearly pieces from high street to high fashion…

We love the trend for pearl embellished shoes, especially on summery sandals; the more, the better! There are lots of great options out there ranging from understated to elaborate. Clockwise from top left our favourites include: pearl daisy sandals from Accessorize; Kurt Geiger pearl detail leather ballet flats; Zara striped plimsolls; Nicholas Kirkwood embellished patent leather sandalsand M&S leather pearl band sandals.

Bags are another great way to embrace the pearl embellishment trend and will complement your real pearls without overdoing it. Pink is the colour of the year and we’ve found choices to cover all occasions (clockwise from top left): Carvela pearl cross body bag; Ted Baker pearl and crystal leather purse; Mango pearls cross-body bag; Accessorize Sophia embellished clutch bag; Gucci broadway leather clutch.

Adding pearl accents to wardrobe staples creates a look that is both flattering and feminine. This season there is an abundance of pretty pearl embellished items in very wearable styles, including this frayed tweed jacket with pearls (top left) and pearl sweater (top right) from Zara; enchanted pearl collar t-shirt (bottom left) and embellished boyfriend jeans (centre) both Anthropologie and Marc Jacobs faux-pearl wool and cashmere-blend sweater (bottom right). With more elaborate items, choose pared down jewellery such as pearl studs or a simple pearl pendant to complement the theme.
