Royal Ascot, What to Wear to the Race Meeting of the Year

Royal Ascot is like nowhere else, and as it approaches we wanted to celebrate the most spectacular horse race meeting of the year, and cast an eye over what to wear to such a spectacular event. As the Royal Ascot website says:

‘Spectacular heritage, unparalleled racing, high fashion, fine Dining and pageantry come together to create an unforgettable experience in a unique setting.’

So it makes sense that you need to get excited about dressing the part… The Royal Ascot Dress Code is traditional, woven into the very fabric of their history. It was Beau Brummell, perhaps Britain’s first fashion icon, who at the turn of the 19th century dictated the dress for men in the Royal Enclosure. His sense of style is still reflected in Royal Ascot fashions today.

Ascot continues to recognise key trends in the ever-evolving world of fashion and in 2019 monochrome dressing, statement bows and tailoring for women are some of the spring/summer fashion highlights for the coming season. For gentlemen, mixed textures and bold colours come to the forefront of formal wear.

Last year Claudia wore a trouser suit to Royal Ascot and wore two of her Sophia pearl necklaces linked together to create a striking long necklace – the perfect fusion of modernity with tradition.

Of course Royal Ascot is synonymous with striking millinery and we were thrilled to team up with Rachel Trevor-Morgan who created two stunning looks using our modern pearl studs, the duos, in peacock pearls, as well as our striking Signet couture pearl earrings. For a real wow factor look no further.

Hats may be the talking point but don’t forget your other accessories. Claudia’s advice is to have fun, and focus on statement earrings. We offer the ultimate pearl earring edit with fabulous pearl hoops, pearl studs, pearl drops, in fact pearl earrings for any hat you might find. Claudia’s personal Ascot edit of pearl earrings is shown here and as we expect to see an abundance of floral prints, pearl earrings would be the perfect jewellery to wear to Ascot.

There is of course the royal heartbeat of Royal’ Ascot that we can’t ignore.  It is the highlight of the Queen’s year and the Queen made sporting history when she became the first reigning monarch to win Royal Ascot’s Gold Cup with her thoroughbred Estimate in 2013. She attends every day of Royal Ascot and is regularly seen in pearls and it is fabulous to see many other royals also wearing pearls to Ascot.
